At cloudnumbering, we’re proud of our mission, and we’re even prouder of the team we’ve assembled to complete it. We’re creating a better product for our customers, a no-nonsense virtual mobile numbers management dashboard, built from the ground up for users like you.
One of the superheroes boldly forging the path ahead for us is Lee Barnard, our Head of Technical Operations. With a career spanning telephony manufacturing, wholesale, and subscriber services, Lee brings a diverse skill set to the table, helping ensure our platform is as reliable as it is innovative.
I was keen to find out more about Lee’s background, and what skills he brought to cloudnumbering, but I’ll be honest, his knowledge of the telecoms industry is clearly light years ahead of this humble marketer, and my main takeaway is that you’re very obviously in extremely safe hands.
With experience in manufacturing, wholesale, and subscriber services, Lee has worked in a variety of roles — from production and installation to support, quality assurance, and as a dedicated voice engineer. His career started in a manufacturer environment, where he developed a deep understanding of — pay attention — both older Time Division Multiplexing protocols and more modern VoIP systems.
He has since spent time deploying open-source software which he says has been a fascinating shift:
“There’s a lot of freedom in using open-source solutions and it has opened my eyes to new ways of building and deploying networks.”
As well as building platforms, Lee has experience in building and managing teams. He’s worked in technical support, heading up a team that spanned two continents, maintaining telecom services for customers across the globe. As with cloudnumbering, customers have always been at the very core of Lee’s approach to telecoms, his varied roles giving him invaluable insights into how customers use products.
“I’ve always found integrating telecom switches into business intelligence and processes very rewarding — the more focused approach gave me a deeper understanding of customer needs and how technology can best support them.”
I love Lee’s approach to our product, and our customers, so I asked him for an insight into his role specifically. His day typically starts by checking in on support tickets and resolving any customer issues. From a technical point of view, he ensures everything runs seamlessly across all the cloudnumbering systems. Whether troubleshooting, integrating new features, or refining customer-facing elements, Lee’s focus is on delivering a smooth, reliable experience for both customers and the cloudnumbering team.
Lee tells me that having come from a more traditional telecoms background, moving to a fully cloud-hosted solution is definitely a leap into something new. However, he knew the transition would allow him to apply his skills in new ways. The cloudnumbering team, the product, all felt like a natural progression.

Like the rest of the cloudnumbering team, Lee is super focused on the product. Whenever I catch up with them it’s clear that they eat, sleep, dream cloudnumbering. Lee is excited about developing more advanced features that will make the experience even better for our customers — stability is key he says, the foundation they’ve built this past year means the sky’s the limit!
